Cheaper power bills for community groups in Knox

Federal Member for Aston, the Hon Alan Tudge MP’s election commitment for new solar panels for community groups in Knox is now being delivered.

The commitment will enable community groups and sports clubs in Knox to lower their power bills and play their part in reducing Australia’s emissions.

The Solar Communities program provides funding for groups across Australia to install rooftop
solar PV, solar hot water and battery storage systems for community owned buildings.

Almost 350 local sports clubs and community organisations across Australia will benefit from the Solar Communities program, including groups in Knox.

The three groups in Knox who have received funding for new solar are:

  • Bayswater Cricket Club, Football Club and Junior Football Club ($40,909)

  • Chinese Association of Victoria ($9,727)

  • Boronia Cricket Club, Football Club and Junior Football Club ($40,909)

Mr Tudge said the groups in Knox will benefit from lower power bills and will be able to spend money on other necessities for their clubs.

“These community groups provide the social fabric that underpins our strong community in Knox,” Mr Tudge said.

This is part of the Government’s broader plan to support local community groups and sports clubs, including Mr Tudge’s election commitment for new lights at Wally Tew Reserve in Ferntree Gully and a new starting gate at the Knox BMX track in Knoxfield.
