Delivering safer communities in Knox

24-April-2017

The Federal Member for Aston, Hon Alan Tudge MP, today delivered funding for new security cameras at Scoresby Village.

The funding was a major election commitment and is being delivered as part of the Federal Safer Communities Fund.

The new security cameras will complement the recently completed new lights at Scoresby Village to boost trader and customer safety and amenity.

Over the past three years, Mr Tudge has worked with local traders to deliver new federally funded security cameras at Mountain Gate, Wantirna Mall and Studfield Shops.  New mobile security cameras were also delivered to Knox Police to be deployed at crime hot spots.

“The new cameras are absolutely necessary to help provide a safer community for shoppers and traders at Scoresby Village,” Mr Tudge said.

“New security cameras for Scoresby Village were a key 2016 election commitment of mine which has now been funded.”

“I look forward to working with the local traders to deliver these security cameras as soon as possible.”

“People in Knox have the right to feel safe and secure, so initiatives including the installation of better lighting and CCTV are important tools in the effort to monitor local crime hot spots and stamp out crime.”

This new $40 million Safer Communities Fund will build on the Government’s previous work through the Safer Streets Programme and the Schools Security Programme.
