Volunteer Grants awarded in Knox

The Federal Member for Aston, the Hon Alan Tudge MP, has announced 28 local organisations have been awarded over $97,000 in grants to support the work of their volunteers in Knox.

Funded as part of the Volunteer Grants programme, the organisations will receive grants between $1,000 and $5,000 to assist with their activities in helping the local community.  This includes help to purchase small equipment items, contribute towards the cost of training courses, and reimbursing volunteers for their costs in contributing around the community.

St Vincent de Paul in Boronia was one of the organisations who received $5,000 to purchase a secure trailer which will be used to support their revenue raising activities, such as collecting cardboard.

The Knox Toy Library in Scoresby received $4,400 to purchase new computer equipment, boost first aid safety for volunteers, and purchase indoor furniture and appliances.

Other successful organisations include the Hungarian Community Co-op Association, Balmoral Village Workshop Group, The Country Women’s Association of Victoria (Boronia Branch), and the Bayswater and Heany Park Scout groups.

“Congratulations to the 28 local volunteer organisations on their successful grant funding,” Mr Tudge said.

“It’s great to see local community groups receiving much needed funding to support the work they do.”

“Our local schools, charities, sporting and service clubs form the backbone of our vibrant community and it is terrific to be able to support their efforts through this small grants program,” said Mr Tudge.
