Tudge delivers new lights for Scoresby Village

The Federal Member for Aston, the Hon Alan Tudge MP, has announced the delivery of new lights at Scoresby Village shopping centre.

This was one of several election commitments Mr Tudge made before the 2013 election to improve community safety.

$100,000 was provided through a federal grant to Knox Council for the purchase and installation of the new lights around the shopping centre.

Scoresby Village traders have been calling for improved security measures for several years, with several incidents of burglary, crime and graffiti occurring in the village each year.

The new lights, installed at previously dark and dangerous areas of the village, will boost security and improve customer and business owner amenity.  The lights will become another important tool in the effort to stamp out crime.

"This is a key election commitment of mine which has been funded and delivered,” said Mr Tudge.

“The new lights are absolutely necessary to help provide a safer community for shoppers and traders at Scoresby Village.”

“There is always more to be done.  I will continue to work with local traders by fighting for new security cameras to complement these lights, making the village even safer for shoppers and traders,” said Mr Tudge.

Other local safety initiatives committed by Mr Tudge at the last election include security cameras at Wantirna Mall, Mountain Gate and Studfield Shops, and mobile security cameras for Knox Police.  All of these projects have now been delivered.  New lighting at Alchester Village in Boronia is due for completion by July this year.
